Job Overview

A law firm seeks a mid-level associate for its Life Sciences & Technology Transactions Practice in San Diego, CA. The successful candidate will engage with startups, growth-stage companies, and global enterprises on complex transactions and product launches.

Duties

  • Advise clients on cross-border commercial and licensing agreements.
  • Assist in corporate partnering, strategic alliances, and joint ventures.
  • Manage IP aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and financings.
  • Draft and negotiate complex legal documents.
  • Navigate regulatory considerations and manage intellectual property.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in a law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Deep knowledge of intellectual property and commercial contract law.
  • Familiarity with FDA regulations, the Bayh-Dole Act, and GDPR.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple client demands in a fast-paced environment.

Education

  • J.D. from an ABA accredited law school.
  • B.S./M.S./Pharm.D or equivalent in a life science field or engineering.

Certifications

  • Active membership in good standing with the state bar.

Skills

  • Entrepreneurial and team-oriented mindset.
  • Experience with international licensing and cross-border transactions.
  • Exposure to IP workflows in M&A or financing transactions.
