Job Overview:

A prominent law firm located in Austin, TX is seeking a detail-oriented attorney with 2-4 years of experience in intellectual property litigation, particularly in patent and trade secret matters. This opportunity is ideal for a candidate with a strong technical background who thrives in high-stakes litigation and enjoys working alongside a collaborative and accomplished legal team. This role offers the chance to represent clients in complex technology disputes, including proceedings before federal courts and administrative agencies.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in patent and trade secret disputes, including all phases of litigation

  • Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, and prepare motions and briefs

  • Manage discovery, including expert reports and depositions

  • Participate in court hearings, trials, and ITC proceedings

  • Contribute to strategic case development in collaboration with senior attorneys and clients

  • Handle inter partes review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board

  • Stay current with legal trends and technological advancements impacting intellectual property law

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of experience in intellectual property litigation, with emphasis on patent and/or trade secret matters

  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage assignments and contribute to case strategy

  • Exceptional legal research, analytical, and persuasive writing skills

  • Admission to the State Bar of Texas is required

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

  • Strong academic performance preferred

Certifications:

  • Active and in good standing with the Texas State Bar

Skills:

  • Advanced written and verbal communication abilities

  • Analytical thinking and strategic problem-solving

  • Familiarity with federal court procedures and administrative proceedings

  • Team-oriented mindset with a high level of initiative and drive

  • Ability to translate technical subject matter into persuasive legal arguments

  • Proficiency in working on fast-paced, high-volume matters

Preferred Technical Background:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in one of the following (or related fields):
