A law firm in Des Moines, IA, is seeking an Immigration Attorney to join their team. The Immigration Attorney will represent clients at various stages of immigration proceedings, including removal proceedings, visa petitions, family-based petitions, asylum petitions, and more. Fluency in Spanish or Chinese is strongly preferred, along with strong legal supervision skills and the ability to handle a high case volume.

 

Duties:

  • Represent clients in various immigration matters, including removal proceedings, visa petitions, family-based petitions, asylum petitions, and work permits.
  • Handle master and individual appearances before USCIS, ICE, and EOIR.
  • Provide legal supervision and oversight on a high case volume, ensuring accuracy and compliance with immigration laws.
  • Organize and facilitate immigration workshops and information sessions for clients and the community.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to effectively manage caseload and meet deadlines.

 

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of immigration experience handling matters before USCIS, ICE, and EOIR.
  • Admission to the Iowa or Minnesota Bar.
  • Fluency in Spanish or Chinese strongly preferred.
  • Strong legal supervision skills and sound legal judgment.
  • Ability to handle a high case volume and work under time pressure.
  • Experience organizing and facilitating immigration workshops is desirable.

 

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Iowa or Minnesota Bar.

 

Skills:

  • Fluency in Spanish or Chinese strongly preferred.
  • Strong legal supervision skills and superb legal judgment.
  • Ability to handle a high case volume and work under time pressure.
  • Experience organizing and facilitating immigration workshops.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
