Patent Agent

A law firm is seeking a Patent Agent to join their team in Denver. The Patent Agent will play a key role in assisting patent attorneys with the preparation and prosecution of patent applications. This position involves working closely with inventors on newly created products, identifying patentable inventions, and conducting research on current patented technologies to support clients in patentable work. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in science or engineering, preferably in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science. USPTO Registration is required, and candidates should have at least 1 year of professional experience, with a preference for 2+ years.

Duties:

• Assist patent attorneys in preparing and prosecuting patent applications.
• Collaborate with inventors on newly created products.
• Identify patentable inventions and conduct research on current patented technologies.
• Draft patent applications with the assistance of the patent team.
• Track the patent application process from initial filing to granted patent.
• Conduct ability searches regularly.
• Respond to office actions and correspond with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
• Solve client challenges and respond to client needs.
• Consistently meet billable hour requirements.
• Identify and suggest solutions to day-to-day problems.
• Provide positive and constructive feedback to peers.
• Train new employees and anticipate future business needs.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in science or engineering.
• Preferably a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science.
• USPTO Registration.

Experience:

• 1 year of professional experience.
• Preferably 2+ years of experience.
