Job Overview:
A respected law firm in Mission Viejo, CA, specializing in elder abuse, neglect, and medical malpractice litigation, is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney with 3 to 5 years of litigation experience. This role is ideal for a litigator passionate about advocating for vulnerable individuals and making a meaningful impact in the community. The position offers hands-on experience in all aspects of litigation—from discovery and depositions to motion practice and trial—in a collaborative, close-knit legal team.

Location:

  • Mission Viejo, California

Duties:

  • Handle all phases of elder abuse, neglect, and medical malpractice litigation

  • Analyze medical records, FOIA responses, and regulatory documents to build cases

  • Develop and implement discovery strategies, including written discovery and depositions

  • Take and defend depositions of fact witnesses, corporate representatives, and experts

  • Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, and memoranda

  • Argue motions and attend court appearances before Superior Courts and Courts of Appeal

  • Participate in trial and arbitration proceedings

  • Work closely with clients and experts to develop evidence of individual and corporate liability

  • Conduct legal research on complex and evolving legal issues in elder law and malpractice

Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of litigation experience

  • Ability to work independently and meet litigation deadlines

  • Strong sense of urgency, multitasking, and time management skills

  • Commitment to ethical practice and client-centered advocacy

  • Willingness to occasionally work evenings or weekends to meet client and case needs

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in California

  • Good standing with the California State Bar

Skills:
