Associate Attorney with 3+ years of civil litigation defense experience

A law firm in Indianapolis, IN is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney with 3+ years of civil litigation defense experience. The ideal candidate will be responsible for drafting legal documents, conducting legal research, participating in court proceedings, and managing a substantive caseload. Strong analytical skills, proficiency with Lexis and MS Office, and the ability to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and opposing counsel are essential.

Duties:

• Draft pleadings, motions, orders, discovery requests, and legal memoranda.
• Prepare and respond to written discovery requests.
• Conduct legal research and provide factual and legal analysis to clients.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Review client documents, draft case evaluations, and prepare status report correspondence.
• Assist and participate in mediations, pretrial settlement conferences, and court appearances.
• Interact directly with clients, claim professionals, opposing counsel, colleagues, and staff.
• Manage a substantive caseload efficiently and effectively.

Requirements:

• Licensed to practice law in Indiana.
• 3+ years of experience in civil litigation defense, including medical malpractice, commercial transportation, construction, and general liability.
• Experience drafting and arguing motions, taking and defending depositions, and providing legal analysis to clients.
• Proficiency with Lexis and MS Office.
• Strong legal research and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

Licensed to practice law in Indiana.
