Job Title: Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A reputable law firm located in Long Beach, CA, is actively seeking a litigation associate with 3 to 5 years of civil litigation experience. This opportunity is ideal for attorneys who thrive in a dynamic legal environment and are eager to handle a wide variety of cases, including both litigation and select transactional matters. The role involves significant client interaction, courtroom exposure, and the chance to work alongside highly experienced trial attorneys in a collegial, growth-focused setting.

Duties:

  • Conduct detailed legal research and craft effective case strategies in various civil matters

  • Draft and review pleadings, motions, discovery requests/responses, and other legal filings

  • Represent clients in court proceedings, arbitrations, and mediations from pre-trial through appeal

  • Provide legal guidance on occasional transactional matters, including business formation and trademark filings

  • Maintain consistent and professional communication with clients, opposing counsel, and internal teams

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys, including ABOTA members, on litigation strategy and case preparation

  • Monitor changes in the legal landscape that may impact client interests and recommend strategic adjustments

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of civil litigation experience in a private law firm or similar setting

  • Admitted to practice law in California and in good standing with the State Bar

  • Proficient in legal research, case strategy, and motion practice

  • Ability to manage a caseload independently while contributing to team-based casework

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong time management skills and commitment to deadlines

  • Prior experience in law enforcement defense is advantageous but not required

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active California Bar membership (Required)

Skills:

  • Advanced legal writing and oral advocacy

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Litigation strategy and courtroom presence

  • Familiarity with transactional matters is a plus (e.g., trademarks, contracts)

  • Client service orientation and attention to detail

  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
