A law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to manage all legal processes from inception through post-judgment remedies. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality legal representation, treat all clients with fairness and respect, and thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The role involves handling a high volume of cases, providing expert analysis and advice on legal and regulatory risks, and negotiating with opposing counsel. Travel within Virginia may be required.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all legal processes from inception through post-judgment remedies.
  • Provide the highest quality legal representation.
  • Treat all customers with fairness and respect while creating fair payment solutions that fit their financial situation.
  • Demonstrate exceptional legal research, writing, and oral communication skills.
  • Handle a high-volume caseload efficiently.
  • Provide expert analysis and advice on legal and regulatory risks.
  • Negotiate with opposing counsel to achieve final resolution of cases.
  • Travel to various courts within Virginia as needed for legal representation and court hearings.
  • Report all activity and results to the Managing Attorney.

 

Requirements:

  • Must have an active Virginia (VA) law license.
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • A license to practice law in other states within the firm's footprint (NC, SC, TN, FL, GA, MD, MI, OH) is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of Federal Debt Collection Law and State civil litigation laws.
  • 0-2 years of experience in bankruptcy/collection or civil law litigation, attending court proceedings, and associated regulations.

 

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Virginia.

 

Certifications:

  • Active Virginia (VA) law license.
  • Additional state licenses in NC, SC, TN, FL, GA, MD, MI, OH are advantageous.

 

Skills:

  • Exceptional legal research skills.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
  • Strong ability to analyze case law and provide recommendations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Outstanding time management skills.
