Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking a talented and motivated associate attorney to join its Washington, D.C. office within the Investment Funds Regulatory practice group. This role provides an opportunity to engage with sophisticated fund sponsors on regulatory and compliance matters, fundraising support, SEC filings, and enforcement proceedings. The position is well-suited for an attorney with 1–3 years of focused experience in investment funds regulatory work, particularly under the Investment Advisers Act of 1940.

Location:

  • Washington, D.C.

Duties:

  • Advise investment fund sponsors on regulatory compliance and disclosure obligations

  • Review offering materials and fund governing documents

  • Prepare and file required documents with the SEC

  • Counsel clients in connection with SEC examinations and enforcement proceedings

  • Interpret and apply securities regulations including the Investment Advisers Act of 1940

  • Provide legal support on fundraising transactions and fund formation

Requirements:

  • 1–3 years of experience in investment funds-related regulatory matters at a law firm

  • Hands-on experience with SEC filings, compliance issues, and fund documentation

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with sophisticated clients and high-value matters

  • Admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in Washington, D.C.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of the Investment Advisers Act of 1940

  • Familiarity with the Investment Company Act of 1940 and Securities Act of 1933 (preferred)

  • Excellent legal research, analytical, and writing skills

  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously

  • Client service orientation and collaborative mindset
