Associate Criminal Defense Attorney

A law firm in San Joaquin, CA, is seeking an Associate Criminal Defense Attorney to join their dynamic legal team. This role involves managing a diverse caseload, interacting with clients, and working collaboratively with attorneys and legal assistants to provide comprehensive criminal defense services. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in criminal defense across federal, state, and local levels and possess the skills necessary to navigate complex legal scenarios effectively.

Job Duties:

• Report directly to the Managing Criminal Defense Attorney.
• Manage a comprehensive caseload and maintain regular interaction with clients.
• Collaborate effectively with a team of attorneys and legal assistants.
• Advise clients on their legal rights and responsibilities and prepare legal documents relevant to their cases.
• Attend pretrial hearings on behalf of clients, advising them on the best strategies following each hearing.
• Handle court appearances and trials, drafting motions, interviewing witnesses, and conducting thorough legal research.
• Analyze probable outcomes of cases using detailed knowledge of legal precedents.
• Manage the workload of multiple cases simultaneously, ensuring efficient progression and resolution.
• Provide detailed legal analysis to identify potential case benefits for clients.
• Gather additional evidence to support the client's case or develop arguments against the prosecution's charges.
• Prepare clients for depositions and determine key goals for case strategy.
• Gather information from witnesses and experts that support the client's position in court.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in criminal defense.
• Proven track record handling complex criminal cases at the federal, state, and local levels.
• Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish are preferred.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in the state of California.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the State Bar of California.

• Strong legal analysis and reasoning abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective client and team interactions.
• Capability to handle high-pressure situations and sensitive information with discretion.
