Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Counsel-level attorney with 8-10+ years of first- and third-party insurance coverage experience to join their insurance coverage practice group in Atlanta. The ideal candidate is a bright, motivated attorney with excellent writing skills, capable of acting independently and taking on leadership roles in complex insurance coverage litigation matters.

Duties

  • Analyze first- and third-party insurance policies and draft coverage opinions.
  • Provide coverage advice to insurance company clients.
  • Lead federal and state litigation, including declaratory judgment actions.
  • Draft and supervise pleadings, motions, and mediation statements.
  • Correspond with opposing counsel, clients, and the court.
  • Conduct legal research using Westlaw.
  • Draft and supervise discovery requests and subpoenas.
  • Manage document productions and review document collections.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Attend hearings and mediations.
  • Retain and manage experts and consultants.
  • Delegate and manage work of junior associates and paralegals.

Requirements

  • Admitted to practice or willing to gain admission in Georgia.
  • Strong first-party property coverage experience required.
  • Litigation experience required.

Education

  • J.D.

Certifications

  • Admitted to practice law in Georgia or eligible for admission.

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
