Job Title: Immigration Attorney
Location: Charlotte, NC

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking an experienced Immigration Associate Attorney to join their team. The firm specializes in a range of legal matters including immigration, criminal defense, uncontested custody, divorce, and personal injury cases. This role involves providing expert legal counsel, managing court hearings, preparing legal documents, and overseeing legal support staff. The ideal candidate will be a proactive and skilled attorney with a background in immigration law and a commitment to continuous professional development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide consultations with clients in person and over the phone.
  • Draft and review legal pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Represent clients in court hearings and proceedings.
  • Supervise and guide legal support staff in day-to-day tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with case filing deadlines and manage related paperwork.
  • Stay updated on legal changes and communicate relevant developments to the team.
  • Update legal documents, templates, and forms to reflect new laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the legal team to strategize case management and legal approaches.
  • Lead training programs for legal support staff.
  • Manage and ensure proper use of Clio by the support staff.
  • Oversee client requests for file copies and manage file organization.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • Active license to practice law in good standing.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in immigration law, with a focus on:
    • Family-based petitions
    • Asylum and removal proceedings
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent organizational skills with an attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Advanced computer proficiency with the ability to adapt to new software.
  • Experience with Clio is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is a bonus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active and in-good-standing license to practice law in the state.
