Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Oil and Gas Title Attorney in Houston, TX. This full-time role requires a highly motivated and skilled attorney to provide expert legal services related to oil and gas properties in New Mexico. The successful candidate will collaborate with senior attorneys to deliver timely and accurate solutions to clients.

Duties

• Conduct title examinations to determine ownership of oil and gas properties.
• Analyze documents such as deeds, leases, and contracts to establish ownership rights.
• Draft title opinions highlighting defects, liens, or issues impacting property ownership.
• Conduct due diligence reviews for oil and gas transactions.
• Provide guidance on legal risks and strategies for mitigating issues in transactions.
• Draft, review, and negotiate agreements and contracts.
• Ensure contracts comply with relevant laws and protect client interests.
• Stay updated on federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
• Collaborate with litigation attorneys if legal action is necessary.
• Work collaboratively with team members to execute complex legal transactions.
• Meet quarterly billable requirement of 450 hours.
• Actively pursue continuous learning opportunities.
• Support other activities and projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license.
• At least three years of experience drafting title opinions for New Mexico lands.
• Familiarity with preparing large, unit-wide division order ownerships.
• Exceptional commitment to ethical practice and client confidentiality.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
