A law firm in Metairie, LA, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Litigation Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience with state compensation and the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act (LHWCA), with additional experience in auto/general casualty being a plus. This partnership-track position offers significant opportunities for professional growth within the firm.

Duties:

  • Handle and manage legal files effectively from inception through resolution.
  • Draft, review, and revise legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and correspondence.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis.
  • Attend and conduct depositions, court appearances, and hearings.
  • Argue motions and assist in trials as needed.
  • Capture and record billable time daily.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date case files.
  • Communicate and collaborate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
  • Stay current with developments in relevant areas of law.

Requirements:

  • Admission to the Louisiana State Bar and in good standing.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in litigation.
  • Experience with state compensation and LHWCA is essential.
  • Experience in auto/general casualty litigation is a plus.
  • Superior academic background with strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Strong organizational and file management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Louisiana State Bar.
