Job Overview:

A law firm based in Elmsford, NY, is currently seeking a litigation attorney with at least three years of post-bar experience focused on defending insured claims in New York. This role involves managing a caseload involving motor vehicle and premises liability matters and may expand into specialized areas such as constitutional claims and municipal defense, based on the candidate's interest. The ideal applicant is confident in court, detail-oriented in motion practice, and efficient with deadlines and reporting obligations.

Duties:

• Represent clients in both state and federal courts across the New York City metro area, including Westchester, Nassau, Suffolk, and Rockland counties

• Handle all phases of litigation from case initiation through resolution, including discovery, depositions, motion writing, negotiations, and trial or appeal when necessary

• Provide consistent and timely updates to insurers and corporate clients

• Log daily case activity and maintain accurate billable hour records

• Participate in legal strategy sessions and collaborate with colleagues on complex case issues

• Optionally, engage in municipal liability and insurance coverage litigation as desired

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in insurance defense litigation

• Strong background in deposition practice, courtroom advocacy, and legal writing

• Ability to appear regularly in person for court proceedings within the NYC metro area

• Familiarity with New York Civil Practice Law and Rules (CPLR)

• Capacity to manage a demanding caseload while meeting deadlines

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active license to practice law in New York State

• Admission to federal court is a plus
