Job Overview

A reputable law firm is seeking a skilled Probate Litigation Associate to join its trust, estate, and guardianship litigation team. This position is ideal for a litigation attorney with experience in probate-related disputes and administration. The role requires the ability to independently manage court hearings, discovery, and case development. Familiarity with fiduciary litigation and a background in family law are considered advantageous.

Duties

  • Handle probate, trust, and guardianship litigation matters.

  • Manage related estate and trust administration proceedings.

  • Represent clients in court hearings, including motion practice and evidentiary proceedings.

  • Take and defend depositions.

  • Draft and respond to discovery requests and related litigation documentation.

  • Conduct legal research and prepare briefs, motions, and legal memoranda.

  • Participate in case strategy development and client communications.

  • Trial experience considered a strong plus.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of litigation experience, ideally in probate or fiduciary matters.

  • Ability to manage litigation files with minimal supervision.

  • Strong familiarity with civil procedure and local court rules.

  • Courtroom experience required, including handling hearings independently.

  • Family law background is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license and good standing with the state bar where the position is based.

Skills

  • Excellent legal research and writing skills.

  • Strong oral advocacy and courtroom presentation skills.

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple ongoing cases.

  • Effective communicator with both clients and internal legal teams.
