Insurance Defense Attorney

A law firm seeks an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to join its River Edge, NJ, team. The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctorate and at least three years of experience managing insurance defense matters, focusing on personal injury litigation and/or insurance defense.

Job Overview:

• Provide legal representation to clients in insurance defense matters, including personal injury litigation.
• Manage all aspects of case preparation, including conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and the court.
• Attend court hearings, depositions, and mediations as necessary.
• Collaborate with other attorneys and staff members to ensure effective case management.

Duties:

• Handle a caseload of insurance defense matters from inception to resolution.
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
• Prepare for and attend court hearings, depositions, and mediations.
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and insurance carriers.
• Provide legal advice and guidance to clients on insurance defense matters.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• 3+ years of experience in insurance defense, focusing on personal injury litigation preferred.
• Currently licensed to practice law in NY and/or NJ, with NJ licensure preferred.
• Strong analytical and research skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.

Education & Certifications:

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Current license to practice law in NY and/or NJ, with NJ licensure preferred.

Skills:

• Litigation experience in insurance defense, particularly personal injury matters.
• Legal research and writing skills.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to effectively manage a caseload and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research databases.
