Patent Agent

Job Overview: A law firm in San Antonio, TX, is seeking a Patent Agent with expertise in AI/ML technologies. The ideal candidate will be responsible for drafting and prosecuting patent applications, conducting prior art searches, and maintaining knowledge of the latest AI technology and patent laws. This role requires collaboration with inventors, client liaison, and adherence to USPTO regulations and TX Bar standards.

Job Duties:

• Draft and prosecute patent applications, particularly in AI/ML technologies.
• Collaborate with inventors to assess the patentability of new AI technologies.
• Conduct prior art searches and freedom-to-operate analyses.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of AI technology advancements and patent laws.
• Liaise with clients to develop and manage patent portfolios.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or graduate degree (MS/PhD) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Physics, or a related technical field involving AI/ML.
• Experience with AI models, neural networks, and deep learning.
• Proficiency in AI/ML theory, including backpropagation, regularization, and optimization.
• Experience in preprocessing data, selecting features, training/tuning models, and deploying models to production environments.
• Domain experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, natural language processing, wireless communications, computer vision, or related AI fields preferred.
• Registration to practice with the USPTO.
• Active membership in good standing of TX Bar or eligibility to waive into the appropriate Bar.
