Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Lead eDiscovery Attorney, preferably based in San Francisco, to guide and support clients and case teams through all phases of eDiscovery. The role involves advising on pre-litigation information governance, leading negotiations on ESI protocols, and collaborating with various teams to implement tailored eDiscovery practices.

Duties

  • Advise clients and case teams on eDiscovery phases including preservation, processing, review, and production.
  • Provide guidance on pre-litigation information governance and trial support.
  • Lead negotiations on ESI protocols and prepare eDiscovery-related motions.
  • Collaborate to develop and implement eDiscovery best practices.
  • Advise on data disposition, legal holds, and records retention policies.
  • Oversee and train a team of Litigation Staff Attorneys.
  • Ensure quality and efficiency in eDiscovery workflows.
  • Monitor changes to eDiscovery rules and regulations.
  • Liaise with Practice Support and Knowledge & Innovation teams.
  • Partner with Attorney Training & Development to create training programs.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • At least 7 years of eDiscovery experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of eDiscovery laws and best practices.
  • Experience with eDiscovery review platforms.
  • Ability to manage complex discovery workflows.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and risk management.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Education

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Relevant certifications in eDiscovery preferred.

Skills

  • Proficiency in eDiscovery review platforms.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to convey complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proactive case management skills.
