A law firm located in Needham is seeking a Mid-Level Employment Defense and Compliance Attorney with 4+ years of relevant experience. The candidate will represent and advise clients on employment matters, including litigation, compliance, policy drafting, and investigations. Secondary responsibilities may include general civil litigation, transactional work, and research for publication.

 

Duties:

  • Litigate wage and hour, misclassification, discrimination, and restrictive covenant cases in state and federal court and administrative boards.
  • Represent small and medium businesses in investigations by government agencies.
  • Review and draft employee handbooks and employment policies.
  • Draft and negotiate employment agreements, non-solicitation/non-compete agreements, and commissions agreements.
  • Conduct workplace or jobsite investigations.
  • Perform general civil litigation and transactional work as needed.
  • Research and prepare articles for publication in scholarly and trade journals.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA accredited law school.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Admission to practice law in Massachusetts.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with Davis-Bacon and state prevailing wage requirements desired.
  • Admission to practice (or pending admission) in Rhode Island preferred.

 

Education and Certifications:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA accredited law school.

 

Skills:

  • Litigation skills in employment law matters.
  • Strong negotiation and drafting skills for employment agreements and policies.
  • Ability to conduct thorough investigations.
  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Davis-Bacon and prevailing wage requirements preferred.
