A law firm in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking an Environmental and Land Use Associate Attorney with 3+ years of experience in land use and environmental law or civil litigation, coupled with a background in science or engineering, to represent public agency clients. The ideal candidate must be highly motivated, dedicated, and committed to providing excellent client service. They should possess a J.D. from an ABA Accredited law school, an active California Bar License, strong academic credentials, exceptional writing and research abilities, strong oral communication skills, and substantive transactional experience.

 

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and representation to public agency clients in land use and environmental law matters.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on environmental and land use issues.
  • Draft legal documents, including memoranda, opinions, pleadings, and briefs.
  • Represent clients in administrative proceedings, hearings, and court proceedings.
  • Advise clients on compliance with environmental regulations, including CEQA, NEPA, air quality, and climate change regulations.
  • Assist clients with planning and zoning issues, including general plans, specific plans, use permits, and development agreements.
  • Lead projects to completion and effectively manage multiple tasks.
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and regulatory agencies.
  • Stay current on developments in environmental and land use law.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA Accredited law school.
  • Active California Bar License.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Exceptional writing and research abilities.
  • Strong oral communication skills.
  • Substantive transactional experience.
  • Familiarity with local government land use/zoning processes.
  • Relevant litigation experience.
  • Relevant experience with other municipal and environmental laws.
  • Undergraduate degree in planning, engineering, or sciences.

 

Experience:

3+ years of experience in land use and environmental law, or civil litigation experience coupled with a background in science or engineering.

 

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA Accredited law school.
  • Undergraduate degree in planning, engineering, or sciences.

 

Certifications:

Active California Bar License.

 

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and lead projects to completion.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations, including CEQA, NEPA, air quality, and climate change regulations.
  • Familiarity with local government land use/zoning processes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
