A law firm is seeking a Condominium Associations Associate Attorney to join their team in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in litigation, particularly in representing Condominium Association and Common Interest Community Associations.

 

Job Overview:

The Condominium Associations Associate Attorney will be responsible for representing clients in court, preparing cases for trial, negotiating resolutions for disputes, and developing litigation and resolution strategies. This role requires excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, as well as the ability to efficiently manage multiple projects and exercise good judgment in dealing with confidential matters.

 

Duties:

  • Represent clients in court
  • Depose witnesses, including expert witnesses, as appropriate for your level of experience
  • Prepare cases for trial and assist at trial as appropriate for your level of experience
  • Negotiate resolutions for disputes between owners and boards of directors
  • Defend challenging cases involving claims based on professional negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, discrimination and harassment, breach of contract, general negligence, and other tort claims
  • Develop litigation and resolution strategies and communicate with clients
  • Support client development and marketing efforts with the partnership
  • Develop legal skills through in-firm mentoring, in-house training sessions, and other professional development activities

 

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of litigation experience, with 1+ year of experience with Community Associations and/or not-for-profit corporations
  • Bar admission in the State of Illinois
  • Juris doctorate from ABA-accredited law school (GPA 3.2 or higher)
  • Familiarity with Community Association governing documents (Declarations, Bylaws, Rules and Regulations), as well as the Illinois statutes pertaining to them
  • Strong organizational skills to manage a varied caseload
  • Strong writing skills to communicate effectively to the court, client, and opposing counsel
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
