Job Overview:
A reputable law firm with multiple offices across Northern California is seeking a Trust and Estate Planning Attorney to join its Sacramento team. This position is ideal for an experienced estate planning attorney who is passionate about helping clients secure their legacies and protect their families. The role involves advising on asset distribution, preparing legal documents such as wills and trusts, and providing strategic guidance on probate and estate-related matters. Candidates must be able to manage a significant caseload independently while delivering high-quality client service.

Location:

  • Sacramento, CA

Duties:

  • Draft and prepare estate planning documents including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney

  • Advise clients on estate strategies including charitable giving, insurance planning, and retirement accounts

  • Communicate effectively with clients about asset distribution plans and estate-related decisions

  • Analyze client needs and create customized estate planning solutions

  • Represent clients in court proceedings related to probate or trust administration as needed

  • Provide legal guidance on related real estate and tax matters

  • Maintain compliance with firm standards and maintain a minimum of 30 billable hours per week

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1–2 years of hands-on experience in estate planning and probate law

  • At least 5 years of total law firm experience in related legal areas

  • Strong negotiation, organizational, and analytical abilities

  • Able to manage complex legal matters independently

  • Commitment to delivering high-quality legal services to individuals and families

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field preferred

Certifications:

  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the state of California

  • Active membership with the American Bar Association (ABA) preferred

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of wills, trusts, real estate law, and probate procedures

  • Excellent client communication, especially during emotionally sensitive situations

  • Proficient in legal research, document drafting, and estate strategy development

  • Ability to maintain high standards of professionalism and discretion

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
