A law firm seeks a driven Attorney to join its Ashland, KY, office. This mid‐sized practice, with over a century of established presence, serves a varied clientele spanning corporate matters, civil disputes, property transactions, estate planning, and more. The successful candidate will collaborate with seasoned counsel on an array of legal issues, contributing to the firm’s commitment to comprehensive, client‐focused representation in Ashland, Kentucky.

Duties

  • Handle casework across multiple practice areas, including corporate transactions, civil litigation, real estate matters, trust & estate planning, banking, insurance defense, medical malpractice, school & municipal law, oil & gas disputes, and labor & employment issues

  • Conduct thorough legal research and draft memoranda, motions, pleadings, contracts, and other documents tailored to each practice area

  • Participate in client consultations, counseling clients on strategy, case status, and potential outcomes

  • Support trial preparation by organizing evidence, coordinating with witnesses and experts, and assisting with discovery processes

  • Appear on behalf of clients at hearings, mediations, and depositions under the supervision of senior attorneys

  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop case strategies, evaluate risks, and propose practical resolutions

  • Maintain and update client files, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of all documentation

  • Liaise with opposing counsel, regulators, and third‐party stakeholders to negotiate settlements and advance client interests

  • Assist senior attorneys with project management, mentoring junior staff, and sharing best practices for efficiency and effectiveness

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of post‐bar experience practicing law in one or more of the following areas: corporate, civil litigation, real estate, trust & estate planning, banking, insurance defense, medical malpractice, school & municipal law, oil & gas litigation, or labor & employment

  • Active membership in good standing with the Kentucky Bar Association (admission to additional state bars a plus)

  • Proven ability to manage multiple files concurrently, with strong prioritization and time‐management skills

  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical practice and professional responsibility

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build rapport and trust with clients and colleagues

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem‐solving aptitude

  • Proficiency in drafting clear, persuasive legal documents and correspondence

  • Effective oral advocacy and public speaking capabilities for courtroom, deposition, and negotiation settings

  • Adaptability to evolving case demands and changing legal landscapes

  • High level of discretion in handling confidential client information

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA‐accredited law school

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Kentucky (and any other state bar memberships, if applicable)
