Job Title: Case Development Intake Attorney

Job Overview:
A respected law firm based in Austin, TX, is seeking a motivated and client-focused attorney to join its intake and early-stage case development team. This position, recruited through La aw Firm, involves overseeing a designated caseload and collaborating closely with assigned case managers to investigate, develop, and prepare litigation cases. Ideal for attorneys looking to build foundational skills in plaintiff-side practice, this role is a gateway to trial team advancement.

Duties:

  • Manage an assigned docket of approximately 50 cases with the support of a case manager

  • Conduct initial intake assessments and engage with prospective clients

  • Gather evidence, including accident reports, photographs, and witness statements

  • Handle open records and public record requests (e.g., lifetime driving histories)

  • Perform background checks, including criminal and social media investigations

  • Assist clients with establishing and documenting medical treatment

  • Maintain client communication with monthly status updates and daily callbacks

  • Respond to after-hours intake calls on a rotational schedule, including in-person or electronic onboarding

  • Draft and deliver letters of representation and prepare case-related correspondence

  • Evaluate cases for file transition to the litigation department

  • Prepare settlement demands and liaise with insurance adjusters when appropriate

  • Monitor and enforce ethical obligations of support staff

  • Ensure compliance with firm-required case documentation standards

  • Complete other case-related projects and assignments as needed

Requirements:

  • Admission to the Texas Bar and active, good standing status

  • 0-3 years of relevant experience in personal injury or related practice areas

  • Valid Texas driver’s license and a clean driving record

  • Commitment to prompt, effective client service and communication

  • Strong organizational habits with the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Flexibility to work evenings or weekends for intake rotations

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in Texas

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research and case analysis

  • High attention to detail and time-sensitive task execution

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Supervisory capability with the ability to lead and energize support teams

  • High emotional intelligence and client empathy

  • Sales-oriented approach to engaging prospective clients

  • Bilingual proficiency (Spanish) is advantageous
