Job Title: Debt Resolution Attorney

A law firm based in Southfield, MI, is seeking a full-time, Illinois-licensed attorney to support its national consumer debt resolution practice. This fully remote position involves direct client consultation, oversight of debt settlement processes, and collaboration with internal legal support teams. Ideal candidates will bring strong communication skills, a high level of client service orientation, and the ability to manage a steady volume of casework in a virtual environment.

Duties:

• Manage a portfolio of debt resolution files for Illinois-based clients

• Conduct frequent phone consultations with clients to explain legal processes and settlement options

• Review and approve documentation prepared by paralegals

• Supervise the execution and progress of client debt settlement plans

• Provide ongoing legal support and strategic guidance to clients navigating debt-related matters

• Ensure compliance with all applicable state regulations and firm protocols

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation within case management systems

Requirements:

• Active license in good standing with the Illinois State Bar

• Prior exposure to consumer debt, bankruptcy, or collections law preferred

• 2 years of experience.

• Comfortable with high-volume client communication via phone and email

• Strong organizational and case management skills

• Technologically proficient and capable of operating independently in a remote setup

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

• Bar admission in Illinois (mandatory)

Skills:

• Excellent verbal and written communication

• Ability to simplify legal concepts for non-legal audiences

• Empathetic and patient demeanor with clients in financial distress

• Familiarity with legal document review and settlement procedures

• Proficient in digital tools and legal practice management software
