Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its team in Lexington, KY. Duties:

  • Conduct in-depth legal research to support case strategy and client advocacy.
  • Analyze and interpret relevant laws, rulings, and regulations.
  • Manage a litigation caseload, including drafting pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Communicate with clients, expert witnesses, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders professionally.
  • Prepare for and attend depositions, mediations, hearings, and court appearances.
  • Negotiate settlements and agreements suitable to client needs.
  • Provide legal counsel, explaining complex issues in a clear manner.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand goals and develop effective strategies.
  • Draft, review, and modify legal documents, including claims, motions, contracts, and agreements.
  • Review and edit legal documents drafted by support staff.
  • Build client relationships and provide excellent customer service.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and mentor junior associates and legal support staff.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Kentucky Bar and in good standing (or willingness to sit for the Kentucky bar exam for out-of-state candidates).
  • 2+ years of litigation experience, preferably in civil litigation.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to commute/relocate to Lexington, KY for in-person work.
  • Reliable transportation for court proceedings, mediations, depositions, and meetings.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Must be licensed to practice law in Kentucky, or eligible to sit for the Kentucky bar exam.

Skills:

  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple cases and deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients and colleagues.
