A law firm located in Columbus, OH, is currently seeking a Patent Litigation Associate Attorney. The ideal candidate will possess second or third chair experience and preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. This role entails a minimum of 4 years of experience in patent litigation, encompassing drafting, responding to motions, and conducting legal research.

 

Duties:

  • Manage patent litigation cases from inception to resolution under the guidance of senior attorneys.
  • Draft and respond to motions, pleadings, and other legal documents pertinent to patent litigation matters.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis on patent law issues, including infringement and validity analyses.
  • Collaborate closely with senior attorneys to devise effective case strategies and tactics.
  • Participate in all phases of discovery, including document review, drafting discovery requests, and preparing for depositions.
  • Prepare for and attend hearings, trials, and other court proceedings as necessary.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, opposing counsel, and internal team members.
  • Organize and manage case files and documentation efficiently.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Ohio State Bar; additional state bar admissions are advantageous.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience handling patent litigation cases in a law firm setting.
  • Second or third chair experience in patent litigation is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field preferred.
  • Strong grasp of patent law principles, procedures, and USPTO regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment.

 

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field preferred.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the Ohio State Bar; additional state bar admissions are advantageous.
