This role involves working directly with municipal boards on a range of legal matters including legislative drafting, compliance, and governance. Location

Duties

  • Represent and advise municipal boards across Orange County and surrounding areas

  • Draft local laws, resolutions, and other municipal documents

  • Attend and present at public and municipal board meetings, including evenings

  • Provide counsel on governance, land use, compliance, and legal risk

  • Collaborate with other attorneys and partners on municipal matters

  • Communicate with clients, staff, vendors, and external counsel

  • Support business development through community involvement and networking

  • Perform other related legal duties as needed

Requirements

  • Significant, recent experience in New York municipal law

  • Availability for evening meetings in Orange, Dutchess, Putnam, and Ulster Counties

  • Strong interest in community engagement and familiarity with the Lower Hudson Valley

  • Demonstrated ability to manage municipal legal matters independently

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active and in good standing with the New York State Bar
