Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced attorney to oversee and support settlement operations across all practice areas in a remote capacity, based in California. This role involves standardizing settlement processes, advising on compliance, and leading the settlement team to ensure ethical and compliant handling of settlements.

Duties

  • Oversee and support the firm's settlement function across all practice areas.
  • Lead, supervise, and mentor the settlement team, establishing clear workflows and best practices.
  • Standardize settlement processes, including documentation and client communication protocols.
  • Draft, review, and approve settlement agreements and related documents.
  • Advise on client trust accounts, settlement funds, and distribution procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with state laws, court rules, and ethical obligations.
  • Monitor implementation of settlement terms and obligations.
  • Provide guidance on settlement strategy and risk management.
  • Communicate with clients regarding settlement processes and timelines.
  • Collaborate with leadership to improve processes and adopt legal technologies.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in California.
  • 7+ years of litigation experience with exposure to settlement processes.
  • Experience in settlement administration and trust accounting preferred.
  • Management or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of professional responsibility rules related to client funds.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe; familiarity with legal tools and systems.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of managing complex matters under deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in California.
