Job Overview

A law firm seeks a skilled Trial Attorney in Los Angeles, CA, to join their team of dedicated advocates. The firm specializes in personal injury, elder abuse, and medical malpractice cases, offering an opportunity for a litigation attorney to engage in trial preparation and courtroom practice.

Duties

  • Manage a caseload from intake through trial with paralegal and senior attorney support.
  • Prepare complaints, discovery, motions, and trial-related filings.
  • Draft and argue oppositions to demurrers and motions for summary judgment.
  • Take and defend depositions, including expert and key defense witnesses.
  • Collaborate with experts for consultation, preparation, and examination at deposition or trial.
  • Participate in mediations, settlement negotiations, and develop litigation strategies.
  • Appear at hearings and trials across California, primarily in Southern California.
  • Ensure compliance with all California Code of Civil Procedure deadlines and filing requirements.

Requirements

  • Licensed and in good standing with the California State Bar.
  • Experience with trials, law and motion, discovery, and depositions.
  • Excellent legal writing and oral advocacy skills.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and self-motivated.
  • Able to work independently and take initiative in a remote work environment.
  • Familiarity with elder abuse, medical malpractice, or personal injury litigation preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • California State Bar license.

Skills

  • Strong writing and trial preparation skills.
  • Ability to manage a robust caseload.
  • Proficiency in legal research and drafting.
