Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Environmental Law Attorney with a focus on transactions and regulatory compliance for its Nashville office. The position requires an attorney with three years of experience advising clients on environmental matters related to business transactions, permitting, and compliance with federal and state environmental laws. The role offers an opportunity to work with diverse clients across industries and contribute to complex, high-impact projects.

Duties

  • Provide legal counsel on environmental aspects of mergers, acquisitions, real estate, and development transactions.
  • Advise clients on compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including air, water, waste, and hazardous materials laws.
  • Conduct environmental due diligence and draft or review environmental provisions in contracts.
  • Assist in permitting processes and regulatory interactions with agencies such as the EPA and state environmental authorities.
  • Support clients in responding to enforcement actions and environmental audits.
  • Collaborate with corporate and real estate teams on multidisciplinary matters.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in environmental law, focusing on transactional and compliance matters.
  • Strong understanding of major environmental statutes, including CERCLA, RCRA, Clean Air Act, and Clean Water Act.
  • Proven ability to analyze and interpret complex regulatory requirements.
  • Exceptional legal writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in good standing with at least one state bar; Tennessee Bar membership preferred or eligibility for prompt admission.
