Construction Associate

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Construction Associate with 3-4 years of construction transactional law experience to join its Real Estate Group in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will have experience drafting and negotiating contracts for commercial, energy, and large infrastructure projects, with the ability to work independently under partner oversight.

Duties

• Draft and negotiate design, construction, and development agreements across various industry sectors.
• Draft and negotiate EPC contracts on large infrastructure and energy projects.
• Provide strategic advice to clients regarding claims management and construction defect claims.
• Support construction teams in litigation and arbitration matters, including drafting pleadings and preparing for hearings.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of relevant law experience.
• Experience in a large or mid-sized law firm preferred.
• Experience with construction litigation matters is preferred.

Education

• JD degree is required.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice in the state of Illinois.
