Job Overview:
A law firm based in Chicago, IL is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Litigation Associate Attorney to join its legal team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on high-exposure cases, specifically those involving catastrophic injuries from construction, transportation, and premises liability matters. This role offers a dynamic and challenging environment with responsibilities that span all phases of litigation.

Duties:

  • Manage and defend complex cases involving significant personal injury claims
  • Conduct thorough investigations and develop comprehensive case strategies
  • Handle all aspects of litigation, including depositions, discovery, and pretrial motions
  • Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, and other legal documents
  • Represent clients in courtroom appearances and oral arguments
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to formulate defense strategies
  • Maintain a high level of client interaction, providing updates and managing expectations throughout case progression

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of experience in civil litigation, preferably in Cook County and surrounding areas
  • Proven ability to handle litigation matters, from inception to trial
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills
  • Strong verbal communication and negotiation abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in Illinois

Skills:

  • Exceptional legal research and writing skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis)
  • Strong oral advocacy and courtroom presence
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously
  • Ability to think critically and creatively to solve complex legal problems
