Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Technical Specialist in Washington, D.C. to join their Electronics Group. This role offers a hybrid work environment with flexible in-office days. The position is ideal for engineers from industry and academia, as well as recent graduates interested in intellectual property law. Relocation reimbursement is available for those moving to the DC metro area.

Duties

  • Perform research into developing and emerging technologies.
  • Prepare written and oral reports for attorneys and/or patent agents.
  • Assist in preparing patent applications and other Patent Office filings.
  • Interact with inventors to obtain disclosures.
  • Maintain and organize prosecution files.
  • Assist with foreign patent applications by preparing letters of instruction.
  • Maintain and monitor docket of work due dates.

Requirements

  • Master's in electrical engineering and/or computer engineering.
  • Expertise in 5G/LTE/wireless communications, RF circuit design, IoT Bluetooth, or semiconductors.
  • Interest in applying scientific and research experience to IP and patent law.

Education

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering and/or computer engineering.

Certifications

  • Patent Bar certification within 1-2 years of employment.

Skills

  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
  • Organizational skills for managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
