Job Overview:
A respected law firm is currently seeking a skilled Health Care Law Attorney. The role is suited for an experienced legal professional with a strong background in business law and at least two additional areas related to health care law. This position offers the opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary Health Care Practice Group representing a diverse range of clients in the healthcare industry.

Location:

  • Grand Rapids, MI

Duties:

  • Draft and negotiate provider contracts with physicians, hospitals, hospices, home care agencies, pharmacies, and DME providers

  • Advise clients on regulatory compliance matters, including HIPAA, the Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, and the corporate practice of medicine

  • Support business transactions, including Medicare-related changes of information and ownership

  • Represent clients in healthcare licensing actions and related proceedings

  • Serve a variety of healthcare organizations including hospitals, physician groups, managed care organizations, trade associations, and non-profits

  • Deliver legal presentations and advice to clients and professional groups as needed

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing health care law

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Michigan

  • Demonstrated proficiency in at least two of the following:

    • Provider contracting

    • Regulatory compliance

    • Business transactions

    • Healthcare licensing actions

  • Ability to work independently and handle a variety of complex legal issues

  • Experience working with healthcare clients is strongly preferred

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Active and good standing member of the Michigan State Bar

Skills:

  • Exceptional legal writing and research skills

  • Strong public speaking and presentation abilities

  • High attention to detail and organizational accuracy

  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage time effectively
