Job Overview

A law firm seeks a motivated Associate Attorney to join its Family Law Division in Atlanta, GA. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in family law, with additional experience in probate law considered a strong plus. This role involves managing domestic cases from start to finish, including drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, and representing clients in court proceedings, mediations, and trials.

Duties

  • Conduct client meetings, including initial consultations and ongoing case updates.
  • Draft pleadings, discovery, motions, and proposed court orders in family law cases.
  • Develop and implement strategic litigation approaches tailored to client goals.
  • Negotiate and finalize settlement agreements in complex domestic relations matters.
  • Interpret and apply Georgia law, including local court rules and state statutes.
  • Manage assigned cases from initiation through resolution.
  • Collaborate with and delegate responsibilities to support staff.
  • Handle probate matters, including estate administration and related litigation.
  • Demonstrate empathy and professionalism in managing sensitive cases.
  • Participate in firm meetings, continuing legal education, and client development initiatives.

Requirements

  • Active license to practice law in the state of Georgia.
  • 2+ years of family law experience preferred.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and courtroom advocacy skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in case management and legal billing software is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in Georgia.
