Job Overview

A law firm seeks a mid-level Government Regulation Associate to join its practice in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have experience in U.S. international trade and national security matters, including economic sanctions, export controls, and foreign investment review.

Duties

  • Advise on OFAC sanctions, ITAR, EAR, and CBP requirements.
  • Counsel clients on international trade compliance and conduct internal investigations.
  • Prepare voluntary self-disclosures and obtain licenses and advisory opinions.
  • Manage risk in cross-border transactions.
  • Support M&A and private equity transactions through CFIUS filings and due diligence.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with U.S. government agencies such as OFAC, DDTC, BIS, and CFIUS preferred.
  • Excellent drafting skills and superior academic credentials.
  • Commitment to teamwork and client service.

Education

  • J.D. degree required.

Certifications

  • Good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Eligibility to waive into the DC Bar.
