Job Overview: A law firm in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a highly experienced Senior Tax Associate Attorney or Counsel with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in tax law, including federal and state tax matters, with expertise in one or more specialized areas such as partnership taxation, mergers and acquisitions, or real estate investments. Knowledge of state and local tax laws, as well as experience with tax-exempt organizations, is advantageous. California Bar admission is required for this position.

Duties:

  • Provide comprehensive tax advice and support to clients on a variety of matters, including federal and state tax issues.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on complex tax issues.
  • Draft legal memoranda, opinions, and other documents related to tax matters.
  • Assist with tax planning and structuring for corporate transactions, mergers, acquisitions, and reorganizations.
  • Advise clients on tax implications of real estate investments, partnerships, and other business ventures.
  • Represent clients in tax disputes and controversies before administrative agencies and courts.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience practicing tax law, preferably in a large law firm setting.
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in federal and state tax laws.
  • Specialization in one or more areas such as partnership taxation, mergers and acquisitions, or real estate investments.
  • Familiarity with state and local tax regulations is desirable.
  • Experience working with tax-exempt organizations is a plus.
  • Strong academic background with a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of California (CA Bar admission) is required.
