A law firm seeks a motivated Associate Attorney for its New Haven, CT office. This full-time role offers the opportunity to engage in a diverse caseload spanning commercial disputes, construction litigation, corporate matters, franchise matters, and personal injury actions. The successful candidate will join a collaborative environment focused on delivering strategic legal solutions and fostering professional development.

Duties

  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, motions, and briefs across multiple practice areas

  • Participate in case strategy sessions for complex commercial and construction disputes

  • Handle business law matters, including contract review, formation, and negotiation

  • Assist with franchise-related legal work, such as compliance analysis and transactional documentation

  • Manage personal injury files, including drafting pleadings, discovery oversight, and courtroom preparation

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on trial preparation, witness examinations, and mediation or settlement negotiations

  • Engage with clients to gather information, provide updates, and ensure quality service delivery

Requirements

  • Admitted to practice law in Connecticut and in good standing

  • Between 1–5 years of substantive legal experience

  • Demonstrated interest in commercial litigation, construction law, business law, franchise matters, or personal injury

  • Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software

  • Strong organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple files simultaneously

  • Excellent written communication, analytical reasoning, and oral advocacy abilities

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active Connecticut Bar membership required

Skills

  • Advanced legal research and writing capabilities

  • Effective client interview and case intake techniques

  • Competence in drafting and arguing motions, briefs, and pretrial pleadings
