Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Employment Counsel to join its team in San Francisco, CA. This remote position requires a California-licensed attorney with substantial experience in litigation and advice & counsel. The role is ideal for a partner-level or seasoned of-counsel attorney who thrives in a collaborative and client-centered environment.

Duties

  • Counsel clients on employee relations, terminations, leaves of absence, and compliance best practices.
  • Draft and revise employment policies, handbooks, agreements, and separation documents.
  • Represent employers in state and federal employment litigation.
  • Handle matters before administrative agencies such as the Labor Commissioner and EEOC.
  • Support clients through employment-related disputes and audits.
  • Mentor junior attorneys as needed.

Requirements

  • Active license to practice law in California.
  • Minimum 10+ years of California employment law experience.
  • Proven ability to manage employment matters independently.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with business clients.
  • Exceptional writing and analytical skills.
  • Practical, solutions-oriented approach to employment issues.
  • Prior small firm, boutique, or in-house experience preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • California Bar License.
