Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Employment Litigation Attorney for its San Francisco, CA office. The successful candidate will join a dynamic Labor and Employment practice group, representing employers in complex employment matters across various industries. The role requires strong litigation, research, writing, and advocacy skills, with experience managing sophisticated employment cases through all litigation phases.

Duties

  • Independently manage all phases of employment litigation from inception through resolution.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, and discovery requests and responses.
  • Conduct and defend depositions; participate in mediations and settlement negotiations.
  • Attend and advocate at court appearances, hearings, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Handle matters involving employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination.
  • Represent employers in investigations and proceedings before federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Advise employers on workplace issues, compliance, and risk management strategies.
  • Manage discovery, motion practice, and case deadlines in state and federal courts.
  • Communicate with clients, provide strategic guidance, and maintain strong relationships.
  • Collaborate with attorneys across offices to develop litigation strategies.

Requirements

  • Admission to practice in California required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of employment litigation experience.
  • Experience handling litigation in both state and federal courts.
  • Demonstrated experience drafting and arguing motions and conducting depositions.
  • Excellent legal writing, analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage an active caseload and prioritize deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to exceptional client service.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • California Bar admission.

Skills

  • Strong litigation and advocacy skills.
  • Proficient in legal research and writing.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
