Job Overview

A law firm seeks a mid-level Associate for its Project Development practice in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will have experience in drafting and negotiating commercial and project development agreements, particularly in energy-related matters. This role involves working on high-profile transactions and requires strong analytical and drafting skills.

Duties

  • Draft and negotiate PPAs, VPPAs, LNG SPAs, and other agreements.
  • Assist in resolving commercial disputes and project administration.
  • Conduct research and draft memoranda on legal impacts.
  • Analyze energy regulatory and operational practices.
  • Draft and enforce performance security documents.
  • Participate in due diligence and prepare legal opinions.
  • Coordinate with local counsel and internal experts.
  • Communicate with clients and provide direct assistance to senior lawyers.
  • Manage and train junior associates.
  • Prepare pitch materials for business development.
  • Join educational seminars and practice groups.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to the Texas bar or eligible for admission.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience; transactional experience required.
  • Strong academic record and intellectual curiosity.
  • Commercial and business awareness.
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong time management and drafting skills.
  • Proactive and resourceful with a client service focus.
  • Fluency in English; international experience a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admitted to the Texas bar or ability to become admitted.
