Job Overview

A respected law firm is seeking a Environmental Law Associate with 3–5 years of experience in environmental regulatory, transactional, and permitting matters, particularly involving Brownfields and wetlands redevelopment. The ideal candidate will be admitted to practice in both New Jersey and New York, and possess a strong foundation in state-level environmental laws and policies.

Duties

  • Handle regulatory and transactional environmental matters, focusing on New Jersey Brownfields and wetlands redevelopment projects

  • Provide counsel on permitting and compliance with state and federal environmental regulations

  • Assist clients in navigating environmental risk in real estate and corporate transactions

  • Conduct due diligence and draft environmental provisions in contracts and other agreements

  • Work on multi-disciplinary legal teams in complex redevelopment projects

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of legal experience in New Jersey environmental law, with emphasis on Brownfields and wetlands

  • Familiarity with New York environmental regulatory and permitting processes is a plus

  • Admission to both the New Jersey and New York State Bars is required

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active Bar memberships in both New Jersey and New York

Skills

  • Strong understanding of environmental statutes and regulatory frameworks at the state level
