Patent Attorney

A law firm seeks a Patent Attorney for its Toledo, OH office. The ideal candidate should have a background in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or chemical engineering and 7-10 years of experience. The compensation will be based on a percentage of collections.

Job Overview:

• Serve as a key member of the legal team, specializing in patent law.
• Work closely with clients to protect their intellectual property rights through patent applications, prosecution, and litigation.

Duties:

• Conduct thorough patent searches and analyses to determine patentability and infringement issues.
• Draft and prosecute patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
• Provide legal counsel and advice on patent-related matters to clients.
• Conduct patent litigation and enforcement actions when necessary.
• Collaborate with inventors, engineers, and other professionals to understand and protect their innovations.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the state bar in Ohio.
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or chemical engineering.
• 7-10 years of experience practicing patent law.
• Strong understanding of patent laws, regulations, and procedures.

Certifications:

• Patent Bar admission preferred.
