Job Overview:
A reputable law firm based in Chicago, IL, is seeking a litigation attorney with experience in professional liability claims, particularly those involving architects, engineers, and construction-related disputes. The ideal candidate will bring a background in defending complex matters, possess strong legal drafting abilities, and be ready to engage in a collaborative environment. This position is available on a hybrid basis and is offered through a legal recruitment firm on behalf of the hiring law firm.

Duties:

• Represent design professionals and other clients in litigation involving construction defects and professional liability disputes

• Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, mediation statements, and settlement agreements

• Conduct written discovery and manage large-scale document reviews and productions

• Participate in the development and execution of litigation strategy

• Handle communications with clients, co-counsel, and opposing parties

• Assist in taking and defending depositions, attending hearings, and supporting trial preparation and proceedings

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of case law and industry trends affecting professional liability defense

Requirements:

• Active license to practice law in Illinois

• Minimum of 3 years of litigation experience in civil litigation or insurance defense

• Proven ability to manage multiple litigation files in various stages

• Experience with client interaction and ability to foster client relationships

• Willingness to participate in business development initiatives is a plus

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to the Illinois State Bar

Skills:

• Strong legal research and persuasive writing skills

• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management abilities

• Effective communicator, both written and verbal

• Comfortable managing deadlines and adapting to a fast-paced legal environment

• Team-oriented mindset with the capacity to work independently
