Job Overview

A law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its expanding Privacy & Data Security and Litigation groups. The position offers the opportunity to work in the dynamic fields of privacy law, cybersecurity, and data security, with a focus on U.S. and international privacy regulations. This role is ideal for candidates with 1-3 years of experience in privacy and cybersecurity law, offering a collaborative environment with advancement opportunities. The position allows flexibility with hybrid work options based on experience.

Duties

  • Advise businesses and organizations on compliance with U.S. and international privacy regulations.
  • Negotiate complex transactions involving the transfer and processing of personal data.
  • Assist clients in responding to and mitigating the impact of cyberattacks and data exposure events.
  • Defend clients in class action litigation related to data breaches and alleged privacy violations.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to provide strategic legal advice in privacy and cybersecurity matters.
  • Engage in research, writing, and communication regarding privacy and data security issues.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Active licensure in Pennsylvania or Maryland.
  • 1-3 years of experience in privacy and cybersecurity law, ideally with exposure to litigation and regulatory matters.
  • CIPP certification is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, driven, and detail-oriented individual with the ability to work independently.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active Bar membership in the jurisdiction of practice (Pennsylvania or Maryland).
  • CIPP certification (Certified Information Privacy Professional) is preferred but not required.
