Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking a highly experienced Resource Attorney to support its Debt Finance practice group. This strategic, non-billable role is designed for a skilled legal professional interested in knowledge management, legal resource development, and internal support. The Resource Attorney will enhance the group’s efficiency by maintaining deal data, updating precedent documents, supporting legal training, and aligning practice tools with market standards. This position is ideal for attorneys with deep debt finance experience who wish to focus on internal impact, innovation, and legal excellence.

Location:

  • Chicago, IL

Duties:

  • Input and manage deal terms in the practice group's transaction database

  • Coordinate audits and updates with the knowledge management team

  • Track credit facility terms for recurring clients

  • Draft and update template and precedent legal documents

  • Curate and organize internal forms and know-how resources

  • Monitor legal and market developments affecting the Debt Finance practice

  • Draft legal summaries and alerts reflecting market trends

  • Collaborate on legal education and training programs for associates

  • Support marketing and business development teams with pitch content and thought leadership

  • Respond to internal attorney requests for legal templates and precedent research

  • Participate in practice innovation and knowledge management initiatives

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a U.S. Debt Finance legal practice

  • Familiarity with credit agreements, security documentation, and leveraged buyouts

  • Ability to draft with precision and manage complex legal documents

  • Demonstrated project management and organizational ability

  • Strong research skills with experience in legal databases (e.g., EDGAR, Intelligize, Practical Law)

  • Willingness to support evolving resource initiatives and internal projects

  • Collaborative and entrepreneurial mindset, especially in building new internal tools and processes

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in the United States

Skills:

  • High attention to detail, especially in document drafting and data entry

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration

  • Excellent organizational skills for handling multiple ongoing projects

  • Flexibility and adaptability to support new initiatives as they arise

  • Ability to work independently and proactively in a supportive legal environment
