Job Overview:

A law firm is seeking a skilled and experienced Civil Litigation Attorney to join a growing litigation team focusing on business litigation, real estate disputes, construction defects, employment law, and more. This is a full-time position with the opportunity for remote work. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in civil litigation and be comfortable handling complex legal matters, preparing legal documents, and representing clients in court proceedings.

Location:

  • San Diego, CA

Duties:

  • Handle various civil litigation cases, including breach of contract claims, real estate disputes, construction defect disputes, employment law matters, and more.
  • Meet with clients to discuss case details and provide legal advice.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Administer depositions and respond to discovery requests.
  • Conduct legal research and write motions.
  • Make court appearances and argue motions.
  • Participate in trials, hearings, and other proceedings on behalf of clients.
  • Interview witnesses and prepare cases for litigation.
  • Negotiate settlements and draft agreements.
  • Attend mediations and arbitrations as required.
  • Handle additional civil litigation matters as requested by partners.

Requirements:

  • Must be a licensed California attorney.
  • 10+ years of experience in civil litigation, with a focus on business and commercial disputes.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and meet deadlines independently.
  • Excellent client service skills with prompt response times.
  • Desire to make court appearances and argue motions.
  • Detail-oriented with strong drafting and negotiating skills.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain legal concepts to non-attorneys.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical abilities, and business judgment.
  • Courtroom experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of the California Code of Civil Procedure.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the California State Bar.

Skills:

  • Expertise in civil litigation, including business disputes, real estate, construction defects, and employment law.
  • Strong legal research, drafting, and writing skills.
  • Courtroom experience and motion practice.
  • Negotiation and settlement experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage complex legal issues and provide strategic guidance.
