A law firm seeks a Tax Attorney with 5-20 years of transactional and business-focused tax experience to join their Affordable Housing team in Washington, D.C. This role offers the opportunity to engage in sophisticated tax work with community impact and a path to leadership. The position involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team serving various stakeholders in the real estate and affordable housing sectors.

Duties

  • Collaborate with developers, investors, lenders, syndicators, nonprofits, and public entities.
  • Engage in partnership tax and exempt organization/nonprofit matters.
  • Contribute to projects involving private-public partnerships in housing and urban renewal.
  • Utilize knowledge of LIHTC (Section 42) and historic and new markets tax credits.

Requirements

  • 5-20 years of transactional and business-focused tax experience in a law firm setting.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.

Education

  • LL.M. in Taxation preferred.
  • Degree in accounting or finance is a plus.

Certifications

  • Bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction.

Skills

  • Demonstrated experience with partnership tax and exempt organization/nonprofit matters.
  • Exposure to LIHTC and historic and new markets tax credits is helpful.
